Green Groups Send Half-Million+ Keystone XL Anti-Valentines to Congress

WASHINGTON–(ENEWSPF)–February 14, 2012.  Green groups have exceeded their goal to generate a half million messages opposing the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. The messages oppose a Senate effort to overrule the President’s denial of the controversial Keystone XL tar sands pipeline. The goal was eclipsed in the first six hours of what was to be a 24-hour challenge; more than 670,000 messages have been sent as of this morning with hours still to go in the effort.

Following is a statement from Susan Casey-Lefkowitz, director, NRDC’s International Program:

“It’s time for lawmakers to start heeding people across the country who are saying no to this Big Oil project and other dirty energy projects. Consider this an anti-Valentine message for dirty energy. We don’t love it and we don’t need it. Americans know that we can do better for our climate, water and farmlands than expansion of destructive and expensive Canadian tar sands.”
