ISAF Joint Command Operational Update, November 28, 2012


KABUL, Afghanistan–(ENEWSPF)–November 28, 2012  – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a local Haqqani leader in Sabari district, Khost province, today.

The leader was in charge of the acquisition and distribution of weapons and ammunition to insurgents operating throughout Khost province.

During the operation, the security force also detained several suspected insurgents and seized a number of weapons and grenades.

Yesterday, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted a mission to arrest a senior Taliban leader in Sar-e Pul district, Sar-e Pul province.  The leader controls Taliban insurgents operating in Jowzjan and Sar-e Pul provinces, and is thought to be responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in both provinces. During the operation, two insurgents were killed and one suspected insurgent was detained.

East

Yesterday, Afghan and coalition officials confirmed that one of the two insurgents killed during a combined Afghan and coalition operation Sunday, in Jaghatu district, Wardak province, was Zubayr, a local insurgent leader who supplied weapons to insurgents throughout the district.
