Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–November 29, 2012. Today, U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Chair Barbara Boxer will convene a hearing on the local impacts of Superstorm Sandy.
Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune released the following statement in response:
“For the millions of Americans- like my mother and father – left without power, water, or shelter after Superstorm Sandy, the terrible toll of what happens when the climate crisis hits home is all too real. The Sierra Club applauds Senator Boxer for bringing some much needed attention to the ongoing impact of this devastating storm and highlighting the plight of families who are shouldering the mounting costs of climate disruption. They don’t just deserve to have their stories told – they deserve action. We hope this discussion can be a springboard to ensuring our communities are prepared for similar storms and our nation is pursuing climate solutions that can turn around this crisis before more homes are destroyed and more lives are lost.”
