Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A former suburban man was sentenced to the maximum of 50 years in federal prison for producing and receiving child pornography, federal law enforcement officials announced Friday. The defendant, DONALD ANDERSON, 47, formerly of Park Forest and Addison, was ordered to serve the sentence consecutive to a 16-year state sentence he is already serving for predatory criminal sexual abuse of a minor.

U.S. District Judge Joan Gottschall sentenced Anderson on Wednesday to the maximum terms of 30 years for producing child pornography and 20 years for receiving child pornography, which she imposed consecutively to each other, as well as with the state sentence. The judge said she ordered the sentences to be served consecutively to prevent Anderson from ever committing any similar crimes. Anderson must serve at least 85 percent of his federal sentence before he is eligible for release and there is no parole in the federal prison system.

The federal charges were brought in 2009 after Anderson was convicted and sentenced in state court, and he pleaded guilty to the federal charges in April of this year. Anderson’s state conviction was based on his sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in 2007, and he admitted videotaping one of those attacks as relevant conduct in the federal case. It was only after authorities knew about the 2007 assault, that law enforcement learned that Anderson had also raped an 8-year-old girl in his home in Addison in 1997, which he also videotaped, and that sexual abuse formed the basis of the federal child pornography production charge. In 2007, authorities recovered thousands of images and videos of child pornography during a search of Anderson’s Park Forest home.

The sentence was announced Friday by Gary S. Shapiro, Acting United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, and Thomas R. Trautmann, Acting Special Agent-in-Charge of the Chicago office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Park Forest Police Department assisted in the investigation.

The government was represented by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Jeffrey Perconte and Dylan Smith.
