Marian Catholic Speech Sends Nine Entries to IHSA State After Winning Sectional Title

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The 2013 IHSA Speech-Individual Events State Finals will be unfolding on Friday and Saturday, February 15-16, at the Peoria Civic Center, in Peoria, Ill. The Marian Catholic Spartans won first place at the IHSA Sectional Tournament in Burbank (Reavis), with a 51 point finish. Eight students earned third place or above.

The MCHS speech team members that will go on to the state finals include; Kyle Fitzgerald ’13, Park Forest, and Michelle Caperelli ’13, Chicago Heights, in Dramatic Duet Acting; Cristin Milliner ’14, Richton Park, in Impromptu Speaking; Kyliah Thompson ’14, Richton Park, in Oratorical Declamation; Kyle Fitzgerald ’13, Park Forest, and Regina Hoyles ’14, Olympia Fields, in Humorous Duet Acting; Pia Lyander ’13, Hazel Crest, in Humorous Interpretation; Jasmine Jackson ’13, Country Club Hills, in Informative Speaking; Regina Hoyles ’14, Olympia Fields, Original Comedy; Cooper Packard ’14, Lansing, in Special Occasion Speaking.

The 2013 state meet marks the 73rd annual edition of the state final and the fourth year that the Peoria Civic Center has hosted the event. State champions will be crowned in 14 events over the course of the meet, including an overall team champion based upon points earned in each individual event.
