Attorney: Supt. Donna Leak Plans ‘necessary legal action’ Against SD 227 After Firing

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Responding to an email inquiry from eNews Park Forest, Attorney Steven E. Glink provided the following statement regarding Saturday’s firing of Supt. Donna Leak:

"Dr. Leak was extremely disappointed that the majority of the BOE [Board of Education] would use their powers to accomplish a personal agenda. Ms. Coleman & Dr. Morgan have a documented history of being anti-Donna Leak and now that they have attained a voting majority, they were able to obtain their goal. However, we were not at all surprised because the majority had made their intentions known before the meeting. Dr. Leak’s accomplishments in this district (and others) speak for themselves. Two of three schools received national recognition. More than 50% increase in the average ACT scores. We were sad that the majority of the BOE did not give sufficient consideration to the good that has been accomplished for the students in this district.

"We feel that all of the charges are false. We feel that the contract is valid. I think last night’s meeting may not have been legally noticed. For these reasons and to vindicate Dr. Leak’s good name and reputation, we intend to vigorously pursue the necessary legal action."

eNews Park Forest will continue to follow this situation as it develops.
