Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Marian Catholic junior, Alexis Diaz-Albertini was always extremely active and talented in several different sports as a child. Alexis had a knack for all sports, whether it was basketball, softball, or volleyball, it all came easy to her and she loved participating. But it was at the age of three years old that Alexis found her true pleasure.

It was the ballet classes at the Frankfort Park District at the age of three that really caught the interest of Alexis. Ballet has been a part of her daily life for the past fourteen years as she continues to strive for success through her performances. Now enrolled at the Joffrey Academy of Dance in Chicago, Alexis looks to further her talents as she hopes to one day make a career from her abilities.

At the age of thirteen, she was first introduced to the Joffrey Ballet by Mr. John Sloven, Alexis’s coach at American Dance Center in Orland Park. “I always thought it would be really interesting to be a part of the Joffrey Ballet,” stated Alexis Diaz-Albertini. Her acceptance into the Joffrey Ballet Academy didn’t come easy, her numerous hours of practice and hard work certainly paid off. Alexis’s talents have allowed her to perform on some big stages over the past few years, they have included, 2013 Discover Orange Bowl in Miami, Florida, along with a performance for Dance Excellence at Disneyland in California.

Like any other sport or activity, Alexis’s days entail a large amount of hard work and dedication. Along with keeping her grades at a high level, Alexis manages to juggle both her homework with her practice schedule on a daily basis. Traveling into the city three days a week after a long day at Marian Catholic, can be a daunting task, but she manages to get it all in her day. Alexis also attends American Dance Center in Orland Park on days she cannot make it to the Joffrey dance studio, to make sure the proper practice is maintained!

Alexis has not decided where she will attend college as of yet, but she has made it clear of what her plans are. “Yeah, I’d love to perform big someday. My goal is to make a profession of this. It’s what I love to do.” states Diaz-Albertini. The Joffrey Ballet and Alexis have a number of upcoming shows to view. Romeo and Juliet will be performed beginning in late April through May.
