Are you looking for a unique gift for a friend, family member or co-worker? Golden Opportunities coupon books make great gifts that say thank you, job well done, thinking of you, keep up the good work and much more.

Golden Opportunity Books are $25. Proceeds from the sales of Golden Opportunities books support the Rotary Club of Park Forest’s EarlyAct™ program. EarlyAct™ is a school-wide service club for elementary students from ages 5 to 13. The Rotary Club of Park Forest sponsors two clubs at Forest Trail Junior High School in Park Forest , IL .

The EarlyAct club has volunteered in the school library, collected paper around their school for recycling, plan to clean up the Park Forest Wetlands area and have scheduled a Feeding Children Worldwide program. In the past the club has put together approximately 3,000 meals each year which are sent to needy children and their families in Indonesia where lives were literally washed away by the Tsunami. This year the club raised it’s own funds to pay for all of their service activities.

Please consider supporting your local Rotary and EarlyAct club by purchasing a Golden Opportunity book for yourself or as a gift to someone else. Books can be purchased from any Rotarian or by contacting the club at the Club at [email protected].

The Rotary Club of Park Forest meets most Thursdays at the University Park Golf Course at 12:15. We have speakers at 1:00 PM and the public is invited to listen to our speakers. The speaker portion of our program, Rotary Today, is broadcast on Cable, channel 19 every Tuesday at 5:00 PM. Rotary International and it’s Paul Harris Foundation are at the final stages of an over 20 year project to eradicate polio form the world. We are involved in fighting food shortages, disease, providing clean water, eye exams and glasses, donated medical supplies, operations and other needed aid to people around the globe.

Our last project here in Park Forest was to partner with the Village and we donated the money and some of the labor to provide and build the viewing deck at the Wetlands Project. Most recently we honored outstanding area High School Seniors and Eighth Graders who won our most coveted "Four Way Test Awards." Awardees were selected by their peers, teachers, administrators and counselors. Selected students then wrote an essay on how the "Four Way Test," was important in living their lives. The essays were then read by a Rotarian committee who selected the recipients. Awardees and their families were invited to a gourmet catered meal (by our own Swiss Made – Withers Catering) also attended by their teacher, counselor, Principal, Superintendent, Board Members and Rotarians. They read their essays and received certificates, a monetary award and their names were placed on plaques that hang in a prominent place in their respective schools.

The Rotary Club sponsors the Forest Trail Middle School EarlyAct Club, sixth, (and continuing) seventh and eighth graders who practice the Rotary values of "Service Above Self," the "Four Way Test," and they meet to plan fund raising, service projects and fellowship activities.

The "Four Way Test of the things we Think, Do or Say," First, Is it the Truth?, Second, Is it Fair to all concerned?, Third, Will it Build Goodwill and Better Friendships?, and Fourth, Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?
