(ENEWSPF)- From the Chicago Tribune:

The wait was longer than Tyler Ulis expected Thursday. But it still was a dream come true, with the added bonus of extra motivation.

Ulis, a Marian Catholic graduate who starred in his only two seasons at Kentucky, was selected by the Phoenix Suns in the second round of the NBA draft.

Although projected by some analysts to go in the first round, the 5-foot-9, 149-pound point guard fell down the draft board and was taken 34th overall.

“Tyler always had to prove himself, which is why he has a chip on his shoulder,” Marian coach Mike Taylor said. “Getting picked later in the draft will motivate him more. He’s a fierce competitor.

“People don’t realize his leadership impact on the floor. The NBA is going to learn that Tyler is a leader.”
