Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- A judge ordered a Park Forest man to be held on $1 million bond July 4 after he was charged with attempted murder in the stabbing of his roommate, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Additionally, Romero Graham, 26, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon after allegedly stabbing his roommate 18 times.

The Tribune wrote Romero and the victim had been drinking vodka. Also, the two went out with two women they worked with in the early morning hours of July 2, according to a statement in court from Cook County State’s Attorney Michelle Cunningham.

The two men were arguing by the time they returned home in the 100 block of Birch Street in Park Forest at 2:40 a.m. As the victim tried to leave the basement where their argument continued, Romero allegedly stabbed him in the back and pulled him down by the shirt collar. Romero also allegedly continued to stab the victim, Cunningham said, according to the Tribune.

The victim sustained 18 stab wounds to his back and head. Furthermore, the Tribune reported that Cunningham said the tip of the knife was embedded in the victim’s skull.

At the time of the Tribune’s report, the victim underwent surgery at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn and was listed in serious condition.
