Park Forest Grocery Store Re-opens After Closing Thursday

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest’s sole grocery store, Country Squire, re-opened Friday around noon after closing early Thursday because of natural gas issues.

eNews Park Forest received inquiries after residents went to go shopping during the day Thursday and found the store locked.

Reached for comment Thursday night, Village Manager Tom Mick said, “Country Squire was closed today due to their natural gas not being on. As such, they cannot operate in a sanitary manner. I’m hopeful they will re-open in the next day or two.”

According to Hildy Kingma, Director of Economic Development and Planning, the issues with the natural gas were resolved Friday. The store opened around noon Friday after an inspection.

So, to the relief of many, the shelves are stocked and the store is open for business.

The store opened for business on Saturday, November 15, 2014.

The grocery store is located at 120 South Orchard Drive in Park Forest. Reported hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, and 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

There is also a Country Squire store on Joe Orr Road in Chicago Heights.
