Roosevelt University Alumnus Finds Niche in Graduate Higher Education Enrollment

Jared Fritz McCarty

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–July 29, 2016.  Jared Fritz-McCarty, a 2011 graduate of Roosevelt University’s Master’s in Vocal Performance program, didn’t take a typical career path.

However, Fritz-McCarty, who is Roosevelt’s director of graduate enrollment and the new vice president for the Midwest Chapter of the National Association of Graduate Admission Professionals (NAGAP), credits his Roosevelt experience for his rewarding career journey.

While pursuing his passion for singing at Roosevelt, Fritz-McCarty became a graduate assistant in the University’s graduate enrollment division where he connected with many prospective graduate students considering Roosevelt.

That experience led him to take a job after graduation as the coordinator of graduate admission at Drake University in Iowa. In 2013, Fritz-McCarty joined Roosevelt’s graduate enrollment team as associate director, and later was promoted to director.

On May 1, he also became vice president of NAGAP’s Midwest Chapter, where he will be working as a volunteer leader with the region’s estimated 300 members on a variety of projects, including professional development opportunities, a regional data base for recruitment events and resources and promotion of the graduate enrollment profession.

”I love music,” said Fritz-McCarty, who has been singing with choral groups since growing up as a child in the small town of Bussey, Iowa, and attending Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he studied music and French and also became a student ambassador in Central’s Office of Admission. “But I also had this passion early on to promote education, and my Roosevelt experience has given me the opportunity to go down that path,” he said.

Fritz-McCarty’s term as vice president of NAGAP’s Chicago Chapter runs until May 1, 2019.
