Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police blotter reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

Police reported a series of vehicle break-ins in the 400 block of Shabbona Drive on July 29. About $30 in cash were stolen from one vehicle. A second vehicle had a damaged windshield and dents in the roof, as if someone had jumped on top of the car, according to a police report. In a separate incident, another victim came out of his house to find a man inside his car. The victim yelled at the man, who then fled the scene on foot.

A television, video game console, tablet computer, jewelry and other miscellaneous items were stolen during a residential burglary July 29 in the first block of McCarthy Road, police said.

Malik M. Turner-Brown, 18, 425 Talala St., Park Forest, was charged with felony robbery and theft of a person after allegedly stealing a woman’s purse July 30 in the 200 block of Monee Road, police said. Zachary Q. Simpson, 20, 4753 Iris Lane, Monee, was charged with misdemeanor theft in connection with the same incident, police said

A television was stolen during a residential burglary July 31 in the 400 block of Indianwood Boulevard, police said.

Doron D. Fleming, 25, 110 Algonquin St., Park Forest, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid driver’s license after an accident in which a vehicle struck a residence August 1 in the 100 block of Algonquin Street, police said.

On August 1, a woman reported the theft of a necklace from her home in the first block of Park Street and several unauthorized transactions on her bank statements. According to a police report, the victim had a service come and help her with cleaning around her home and some grocery shopping. The victim told police she checked her bank statements after becoming suspicious when she could not find her necklace.

Nakia B. Swain, 18, 914 Morningside Ln, University Park, was charged with assault following a dispute with another woman August 1 in the 100 block of S. Orchard Drive, police said.

Several charging cords, clothing and a GPS device were stolen from a vehicle August 1 in the 100 block of Nashua Street, police said.

Daniel L. Capehart, 38, 10 W. Donovan, Crete, was charged with battery August 2 following a dispute with a counselor at the Michelle Obama School of Technology and the Arts, 215 Wilson St., police said.

Park Forest Police and Fire departments are investigating a fire that occurred August 3 in the 23400 block of Western Avenue. According to a police report, firefighters reported several fires appeared to be set within the structure. Firefighters also reported an odor of gasoline or lighter fluid in the structure and police found several lighter fluid containers in a nearby garbage dumpster.

A water heater, stove and refrigerator were reported stolen August 3 from a home in the 400 block of Tomahawk Street. According to a police report, there were no signs of forced entry. The theft was reported by contractors working with the property’s management company.

Various electronics including sound equipment, a video game console, a laptop computer and cash were reported stolen during a residential burglary August 4 in the 400 block of Tomahawk Street, police said. According to a report, the victims came home on that date and noticed a side door to their home open and there was an appearance of forced entry.

A man was robbed at gunpoint August 5 at the 7-Eleven store, 425 Sauk Trail. Police said that a man wearing a white t-shirt, jeans and a white t-shirt wrapped around his face pointed a dark gray gun at a man in the store parking lot. The victim gave the gunman his wallet. The gunman then took a debit card and ran west toward the car wash across the street. Police are investigating.

Shaymontae X. Mobley, 18, 117 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was charged with disorderly conduct following a disturbance August 5 in the 10 block of Rocket Circle, police said.
