Women’s Self-Defense Seminar Offered In Park Forest

Anthony DeLuca Women's Self-Defense
Rep. Anthony DeLuca (SUPPLIED)

Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Representative Anthony DeLuca will host a Women’s Self-Defense Seminar on Saturday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The event will take place at the Rich East High School Gymnasium, located at 300 Sauk Trail in Park Forest.

6th Degree Black Belt and Martial Arts Instructor Master Daniel Kocsis will provide FREE self-defense instruction, discuss and demonstrate ways to maintain awareness and physically defend yourself in various circumstances. Practical physical techniques will be taught and women who are interested are encouraged to attend.

Safety techniques can be customized. This allows anyone, including those with physical limitations, to learn and participate.

Let’s stop there.

We publish a lot of press releases. We don’t mind, as long as they are truly newsworthy. Sometimes, the self-serving release will slip through.

We are happy to publish this news item for Rep. DeLuca. We are going to edit it a bit.

As a former journalist told me years ago (eNews Park Forest has been up and running for 10 years. Now there’s a press release we should have written.), we can do virtually anything we want with a press release.

Listen to WBBM in the morning?

I don’t now. I’ve switched to WBEZ 91.5 Chicago. Almost full time — when I’m in the car.

But if you listen to WBBM, you’re hearing a lot from press releases — especially when business news is “reported.”

WBEZ? Original.

All the time.

The truth is, news organizations run press releases all the time, but they don’t always let the reader, or the listener, know that they are “reporting” from press releases.

We let you know. The byline will say “Press.”

But that’s not the only reason I’m writing.

To those who have been sending us press releases, you should know that not everything will be published, without question, and with the simple disclaimer “Press” in the future.

We will begin charging for press releases, especially those that are particularly self-serving.

There’s nothing wrong with a self-serving press release. Nothing, nothing at all.

Except that it’s not news, it’s an advertisement.

And, since we do not “unpublish” the news, your press release will be available on the Internet for a long, long time.

We will label such releases as advertisements. And only publish them after we’ve received payment.

But this release from Rep. DeLuca?

Well, this seminar is truly a public service. So we publish it as news.

And commentary, since I’m butting in.

Look. The bottom line is that we have a bottom line. We are hardly operating here at eNews Park Forest for free. Our site is very, very strong. We draw readers from all over the world.

Yes. All over the world.

For what it’s worth, our Domain Authority is 53.

For what it’s worth, that’s pretty impressive to many in the geek-world of the Internet.

eNews Park Forest is read all over the world.

We are ten, 10, years online.

We were the first-ever Online-only member of the Inland Press Association.

And we are now a proud member of the Society of Professional Journalists. And that includes our membership in the Chicago Headline Club.

But, most, most and for all, we are proud, very proud members of LION Publishers.

LION Publishers?

Local. Independent. Online. News. Publishers.

And we look forward to more. Publishing more news.

More readers.

Adding more advertisers.

In the meantime, we are happy to publish this news for Rep. Anthony DeLuca.

It is truly something women should consider.
