If he can’t play their hero, he’ll subject them to death threats? That’s where we are now?

As yet another reminder, this is not even remotely Freaking Normal:

n this tweet, the president-elect of the United States is calling out the workers who lost their Carrier jobs overseas by telling them they should have spent “more time working” and “less time talking.”

This is not normal. This is deranged. This is the sort of thing that you and I and every goddamn dog in America know, if it had been said by Clinton, or Bush, or Obama would have been front goddamn page goddamn news in every paper in America. This is the president himself attacking an individual group of workers who just got told most of them will be losing their jobs. (And is an unsubtle attempt to bust their union, or at least cast it as “lazy” on the national stage.)

Those white working class voters that seemingly half the reporters in America were going on about, just two weeks ago? This is what Donald J. Trump thinks of them. In public. As “presidential” statement.

And the reason he’s telling these specific workers that it’s their own damn fault they lost their jobs to outsourcing is because the local union leader had unkind things to say about Donald Trump, which is all it takes for Donald J. Trump, soon to be president, to lose his fucking mind in public.

This is not normal. Personal attacks on individual American citizens from a president is not normal. A president regularly calling out individual Americans he doesn’t like by name, reliably subjecting those Americans to death threats from unhinged supporters, is not goddamn normal and stop treating it as such.

What the hell is it going to take, precisely, for Trump’s fellow Republicans to admit what they were all pretty damn willing to admit when it looked like Trump was merely another far-right racist flash-in-the-pan candidate—that Donald Trump is unfit for office. Unfit. Not he’s easing into it, he’s subjecting ordinary Americans to death threats and mocking them from behind podiums or Twitter screens when any of them say something about Donald Trump he doesn’t like.

He is unfit, and if the Republican Party has any remaining ideology other than doing whatever Dear Leader, Proto-Fascist, desires during any given weekday it would be damn good if someone with some remaining shred of personal dignity started demanding Trump either rise to the dignity of the office or bow the hell out.
