In the Name of Humanity – NO! No Muslim Ban! No Walls! First They Came for… Not This Time!
CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—February 9, 2017. On Saturday, February 11 at 3 pm, there will be a rally/march at 2200 W. Devon, in Chicago hosted by representatives of the Devon Avenue community, Refuse Fascism – Chicago, and Degenerate Artists Against Fascism. This event will build on the massive demonstrations in airports and elsewhere across the U.S. and in other parts of the world, and last Saturday’s (February 4) rally of 75-100 on Devon Ave here, against Trump-Pence’s fascist attacks on Muslims and immigrants overall.
Many of these protests completely upended business as usual, and continue. People from all walks of life are invited and expected to attend: Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists; Pakistanis, Indians, African-Americans, immigrants from everywhere, Latinos and whites; LGBT people, coming together in determined, vocal opposition.
Trump’s Muslim travel ban is not only cruel, immoral and illegal—it is FASCIST. The Trump-Pence fascist regime has not only escalated its extreme xenophobia (irrational fear of people from other countries) and nationalism, demonizing and unleashing terror against those it deems as “enemies,†“undesirables,†or “dangers to society.†It has also gone further in shredding what have up till now been the supposed civil and legal rights of the people and the “checks and balances†which have long been considered foundational to U.S. society.
The Trump/Pence regime is illegitimate and must be driven from power. Only this can avert the brewing catastrophe for the planet and its people.
