University Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Visit great artwork and then create your own masterpiece when the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park (NMSP) hosts Sculpture Rocks! on Sunday, July 15 from 2 to 5 p.m.

NMSP, located on the Governors State University campus in University Park, is home to 27 renowned sculptures by some of the world’s most prominent artists. During Sculpture Rocks!, NMSP docents will be on hand to provide guidance both on park paths and with artwork.

“We are looking for everyone, young and old, to share their artistic abilities with us,” said NMSP Director and Curator Geoffrey Bates. “We supply the materials and, hopefully, the inspiration, and you do the rest. At Sol-a-bration 2010, the Sculpture Rocks! table was very popular and we are looking for contributions from anyone who wants to unleash their inner sculptor.”

Sculpture materials are available for $5. Bates said sculpture materials include wood, both natural and shaped, pegboard, Carrara marble, wire, cardboard, dowels, and markers.

Sculpture Rocks! is one of three Summer of Sculpture events taking place in 2012 at the Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park.

The Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park is free of charge and open from dawn to dusk 365 days a year. For more information about the sculpture park, visit www.govst.edu/sculpture or call (708) 534-4486.
