Prairie State College (PSC), in partnership with Northern Illinois University (NIU), will host the two-day “SHRM’s Essentials® of HR Management” course from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 17 and Thursday, Sept. 18, in the Conference Center of the PSC main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.
The course is a perfect fit for new and junior HR professionals, business owners and office managers, managers and supervisors with employee management responsibilities, job seekers wanting to transition in a career in HR and HR professionals seeking to update their current HR knowledge.
Attendees will learn about the complex, real-world and legal issues HR professionals face. Topics include employment law, selecting qualified employees, compensation basics, orientation and training of employees and performance management.
John Newton SPHR, president of John Newton and Associates, will be the instructor for this course. Newton brings a wealth of real-world practical HR experience to the classroom through his entertaining and engaging presentation style.
The cost to attend is $650, or $600 for SHRM members or NIU alumni for registrations completed at least 14 days in advance of the course start date. A $100 late fee applies to registrations within 14 days. The course fee includes course materials and online access to resources you can use in the workplace and catering services.
