2015 Graduate Students Exhibition Opening at Prairie State College on April 27

CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—April 24, 2014. The Christopher Art Gallery at Prairie State College (PSC) is presenting the annual spring Graduate Students Exhibition April 27 through May 21.

A reception for all the student artists is scheduled from noon to 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, in the gallery, located on the PSC main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

Works in all media will be presented by participating students Melinda Arce-Gudino of Homewood, Caitlin Gerritsen of Chicago Heights, Julian Graham of Park Forest, Diamond Jones of Homewood, Nicolas Naliwko of Crete, Axl Ramirez of Monee, Amy Roesch of Chicago Heights, Carole Rose of Matteson, Raymond Thompson of Park Forest, Briana Unruh of Park Forest, Steve Voigt of Manteno, Robert Walker of Matteson and Dejon Williams of Country Club Hills.

Participating students annually create the exhibition, for which they design the postcard, create the show brochure and present their best work from PSC Art Professor Paul Rinaldi’s Portfolio Review class. This gives the students the opportunity to experience what goes into preparing a show in the professional art world.

“The range and scope of the work speaks to the level of commitment, exploration and visual discovery undertaken by each student,” said Rinaldi, who also is curator of the exhibit.

“The diverse backgrounds and creative interests of our students are truly what bring vitality to our visual arts program. Their achievement is greatly supported by our administration, faculty and staff, and speaks to the college’s commitment to support the arts as is necessary and vital to our community,” he added.

The Christopher Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. Visits also can be made by appointment. For more information about the exhibit or to make an appointment for a visit, call (708) 709-3636.
