Midwest Wings to Compete in Washington, Meet Congressman Jackson


Washington, D.C.–(ENEWSPF)– The Midwest Wings Soccer Club will compete against the best of the best in Washington DC this weekend, February 14 and 15. Additionally, members have been invited to meet Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr., Friday at the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. members of the club will share club accomplishments with the congressman and take a team photo with him. The Midwest Wings “Under 12” and “Under 13” boys will be competing in the Indoor National Championships which they qualified for by winning the Regional Championships.

“The Midwest Wings Soccer Club has been in existence since 1974 and have accomplished some incredible things in youth sport and sending young people onto higher levels in the game and of course college,” says Director Bill Dekker. “The Midwest Wings is proud to have developed so many players and host our 5th annual Indoor tournament at the Ho Chunk Sports and Expo Center in Lynwood, IL Feb. 21-22, 2009 featuring top level teams from all over the Chicago area as well as the Midwest.”

“Being acknowledged by Jesse Jackson, Jr. is an honor for our club and players and we are proud to represent the Chicago area this way. Our club and players come from all walks of life and are the example of what positive kids and parents are doing,” Dekker said.

The club will host its 18th Annual Fall Classic this fall. They have sent teams all over Europe and the United States over the past 20 years.
