Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The dog days of summer have arrived. Saturday is the official opening of the Park Forest Bark District.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bark District is scheduled for this Saturday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m. Festivities will include treats for humans and canines.

The Park Forest Bark District is located along the west leg of Winnebago Park at Wildwood Drive. Village staff have been busy preparing for the big opening day events, and volunteers even pitched in to help spread wood chips to create a path to the park from Wildwood.

According to the Village of Park Forest Web site, the Bark District is "a place where humans and their canine companions can go to run, relax and socialize with other dogs." The winning entry of the "Name the Park Forest Dog Park Contest" was submitted by Ms. Du Shon Brown, a resident of Park Forest for ten years, and a huge supporter of our furry friends, the Web site reports.
