SSDMC Honors Youth at 3rd Annual Awards Banquet

Alsip, IL–(ENEWSPF)– More than 500 village officials parents and other guests, took part in honoring youth at the South Suburban Disproportionate Minority Confinement (SSDMC) awards ceremony.

“You young people have a lot to be proud of. Your hopes and dreams will come true.” said Mistress of Ceremony Deborah Grable, former co-host of the hit celebrity program Ebony & Jet Showcase. Grable praised the youth for their hard work during the past year. SSDMC Board Chairman, Supervising Judge of Juvenile Court Michael Stuttley, thanked Grable for being a part of this occasion.

The following awards were presented:

  • “Joe P. Mayo Juvenile Justice Award” presented to Alyssa Hernandez
  • “Honorable Michael W. Stuttley Human Spirit Award” presented to Natasha Johnson
  • “Geneva E. Bell Rose Petal Award” Michele’le Adams
  • “SSDMC Mistress of Ceremony Award” presented to Kyla Kelly
  • “SSDMC Sports and Education Award” presented to Antwoine Johnson
  • “SSDMC Community Service Award” presented to Rogena Burns
  • “SSDMC Technology Award” presented to Antovan Bluster
  • “Chicago Area Project Visionary Award” presented to DaShaye Bridges
  • “SSDMC Civic Responsibility Award” presented to Bria Jones

Special Awards were presented to Presiding Judge over Juvenile Court, Honorable Curtis Heaston, 1st Congressional District Congressman Honorable Bobby Rush, and the Honorable Lewis Towers, Mayor of Sauk Village.

SSDMC Coordinator Angela Greene was taken by surprise as her board presented her with a plaque and a dozen roses.

“This is my board. They have worked very hard with me. Through the good times and bad times I had going on in my life. This Board has been very supportive of me. I would not trade this group for anyone.” Green said.
