Obituaries: Raleigh Estrada and Adam Donald Martinez


Raleigh Estrada

Raleigh Estrada, 88, May 12, 2010, Chicago Heights resident of 52 years; beloved husband of Aileen, nee Swilley; devoted father of Lise (Steve) Miller, Michele (Craig) Feigen, and Raleigh (Terri) Estrada Jr.; cherished grandfather of Lauren Payne, Rees and Emily Estrada, Laura and Michael Feigen; fond brother of Mary (Troy) Groves, the late Emma (Marlin) Churchill, the late Michael Dellapenta, and Anthony (Carol) Dellapenta; devoted son of the late Francisco (Blanco) Estrada. Born October 31, 1921, in Uvalde, Texas, Mr. Estrada was happily employed as a salesman by the Texo Corporation for over 50 years. During World War II, he was stationed in Burma, India, proudly serving his country in the 12th Bomb Group as a radio mechanic; he was awarded the American Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Estrada earned a degree from Columbia University in New York where he recalled meeting the legendary quarterback Sid Luckman and once also met Leonard Bernstein. He loved his work, attending church, opera, playing golf, Lake Michigan, the Chicago Bears and, most of all, his wife and family.  Funeral Services were held Saturday, May 15, at Holy Family Episcopal Church, 102 Marquette St., Park Forest, IL. Interment Monday, May 17, 10:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Stroke Foundation, 9707 E. Adam Donald Martinez

Adam Donald Martinez, 20, May 13, 2010. Resident of Park Forest, IL. Beloved son of Jesus (Laura) Martinez; Loving grandson of the late Donald (Violet) Reddicliffe, and the late Ofelia (the late Manuel) Martinez; Dear brother of Benjamin Martinez; nephew of Steven (Connie) Reddicliffe; also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. Adam was a youth Cub Scout and football player with the Richton Park Raiders. He also was a member of the Rich Rattlers Wrestling Club. A 2008 graduate of Rich East High School where he was an athlete on the wrestling and football teams. Adam was employed by the Chicago Dough Company in Richton Park.
