Police: Man Robbed At Gunpoint In Apartment Complex Parking Lot


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A man told police he was robbed at gunpoint when he went to an apartment building in the 23400 block of Western Avenue to visit a friend. Police were dispatched to the 23400 block of South Western Avenue on January 16 at 6:21 p.m.

According to  police, the alleged victim told them that he pulled his car into the parking lot of the apartment complex after 6:00 p.m. and noticed a white Chevrolet Impala enter the lot and drive toward his vehicle. He said he also observed three black male subjects dressed in dark clothing walking east in front of the building at 23443 S. Western Avenue towards the building at 23445 S. Western Avenue.

The man said he exited his vehicle and was immediately confronted by one of the three black male subjects. According to police, the suspect approached the victim, displayed a black semi-automatic handgun, pulled the slide of a weapon to the rear as if he was chambering a round, and stated "Give me everything. Hurry, don’t make me shoot." The man said he reached into his pocket and handed the suspect $48 cash.

The man said the suspect then ran northeast from the area. The second and third suspects stayed near the front of the man’s vehicle. The victim said both were holding what appeared to be black handguns in their right hands. When the first suspect ran, the other two began running southeast from the area, according to police.

The three suspects are described as being black males between 15 and 18 years of age with thin build and medium brown skin. All three were wearing black skull caps and black hooded jackets, according to police. Police say the first suspect had his hair in braids or twists.  As the suspects ran away, the victim said the white Impala left the parking lot at a high rate of speed.
