University Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Courtney Kohn Sanders, Governors State University’s vice president for enrollment management and marketing, has received The National Women In Management Woman of Achievement award, also known as the Charlotte Danstrom Award.

Sanders received the award on May 15 during the annual Celebrating Women in Management Awards Ceremony at the Nineteenth Century Club in Oak Park. She is president of the Near West Cook Chapter of National Women in Management (WIM).

Awards are given in seven career categories; Academia, Corporate, Entrepreneur-Service, Entrepreneur-Product, Government, Licensed Professional, and Not-for-Profit based upon answers to questions set forth by the National Board of Women in Management. Sanders received this year’s award for her contributions in field of academia. Candidates are judged by non-WIM members with knowledge and understanding of the skills needed to excel in the career field being judged.

The award is named for Charlotte Danstrom, one of WIM’s founders in the 1970s. WIM continues to celebrate her life and the opportunities she envisioned by presenting the Chapter Women of Achievement Award and the National Charlotte Danstrom Awards.

Sanders, of Shorewood, was appointed to her position at Governors State University in July, 2011. She is responsible for recruitment and outreach, admissions and admissions processing, financial aid, registration and student records, and international student services. She is also responsible for marketing and public relations, and for the university’s new Dual Degree Program (DDP). Sanders works closely with other senior administrators, deans, and department heads in implementing the university’s marketing and branding strategy.

Women in Management is a national organization that promotes the professionalism of its members through education, development, encouragement and mentoring. WIM also promotes the organization’s growth to bring these services to women throughout the nation and to encourage growth, networking and quality within its existing chapters.
