Police Update Public On Monday Afternoon Shots Fired In West Lincolnwood

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Park Forest Police updated the public Tuesday on afternoon shots fired in the 200 block of Indiana Street Monday.

“On March 21, 2016 at approximately 3:40 pm, Park Forest Police responded to the 200 block of Indiana St. for the report of a subject with a mask and gun walking to the rear of a residence,” police said in a Facebook post.

“Responding officers encountered one suspect and engaged in a foot pursuit when he fled south towards Lee St. He was taken into custody and a firearm and other evidence was recovered.

“While detaining that man, officers heard gunfire several yards away behind a home. Officers responding to the gunfire observed a man throwing a gun onto the roof of a residence. Two additional people were detained at that scene.

“The incident is still under investigation, and at this time the shooting appears to have been a resident who had been illegally in possession of a firearm firing at offenders who had attempted to rob him,” police said in the statement.

“At present time, several people are in custody and multiple firearms were recovered. No one was injured in this incident.”
