Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. If your name is listed in the police reports, we will only add information relevant to the final disposition of the case at hand, e.g. “Mr. Smith was subsequently acquitted,” “Mr. Smith entered a guilty plea,” or “All charges against Mr. Smith were subsequently dropped.” We will do so upon receiving and verifying proof of such disposition.

Two vehicles parked in the 300 block of Sauk Trail were reported damaged by scratches, tires were slashed, and a side-view mirror on one of the vehicles was destroyed. The damage to the vehicles was reported on March 19.

A drivers license, a debit card, a pair of Samsung earphones, and an iPhone charger were reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 300 block of Nokomis Street on March 25.

Tires of two vehicles parked in the 400 block of Tamarac Street were reported slashed on March 25. Additionally, lug nuts were removed from some of the tires and an officer located several marks on the front driver side door window of a vehicle as if someone was trying to break the window.

Derek L. Williams, 30, 13 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 25 and charged with one count of misdemeanor retail theft and one count of misdemeanor criminal trespass to real property when police were dispatched to a business in the first block of Main Street to investigate a report of a retail theft that allegedly occurred with the alleged offender in custody.

A lock/unlock remote for a vehicle, a red leather change purse containing approximately five dollars in change, and two pairs of glasses were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Dogwood Street on March 26.

An officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Allegheny Street on March 27 in reference to a report of a robbery. A male caller stated that three females had sprayed him in the face with mace and took his glasses. Police are investigating.

The trunk of a vehicle parked in the 200 block of Juniper Street was reported damaged by a landscaping brick on March 27.

Tony Poole, 43, 631 Sangamon St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on March 28 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Forest Boulevard to investigate a report of someone attempting to enter a residence.

Derek L. Williams, 30, 13 Hemlock St., Park Forest, was arrested on March 29 and issued a municipal citation charging illegal dumping of refuse when an officer patrolling in the south parking lot of the Park Forest Police Department observed a subject, later identified as Williams, allegedly throw a glass bottle into the air. When the bottle hit the ground, it did not break. According to police, Williams allegedly picked up the bottle and threw it a second time, and the bottle landed in close proximity to a parked vehicle and shattered.

Two residents, a man and a woman, told police on March 29 that someone on Facebook wrote to one of them threatening to kill the female resident and “her man.” The female writer threatened to “gut” the couple like animals, according to police. The couple told police they do not know who the writer is. They were advised on how to obtain an order of protection. Police have suspect information.

Copper piping and faucet heads for a sink were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Mantua Street on March 31.

A resident told police on she received a call from a store trying to confirm whether she was trying to open a line of credit with them. She told the store representative that she did not authorize a new line of credit and requested it to be canceled. She also discovered that all three major credit bureaus requested copies of her credit report. The credit bureaus are investigating.

Two patio chairs valued at approximately $20 each were reported stolen from the front porch of a residence in the 300 block of South Orchard Drive on March 31.

Steven R. Johnson, 22, 9 School House Court, Park Forest, was arrested on April 2 and processed on an outstanding warrant out of Dekalb County charging domestic battery. An officer patrolling in the area of School House Court observed two men who he recognized sitting in a vehicle on April 2. The officer recalled that one of the men had an extraditable warrant out of Dekalb County. When the officer approached the vehicle attempting to speak with them, the man exited the vehicle and began walking eastbound on Fir Street, according to police. Other officers arrived on the scene to assist and the two men were eventually stopped. The second man who was in the vehicle, Anthony M. Taylor, 23, 22005 Ridgeway Ave., Richton Park, was arrested and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis.

A craftsman snow thrower, a Honda power washer, a Sthil handheld leaf blower, and a 5 gallon gas can were reported stolen from a shed in the 100 block of Marquette Street on April 3.

A box of 50 foot aluminum trim coil valued at $54, and Hitachi pneumatic framing nailer valued at $300, a Rockwell sonic crafter with the case valued at $76, a Bosch 1″ SDS Plus Rotary Hammer valued at $198, and a Bosch jigsaw valued at $260 are among the $3246 in power tools and construction materials stolen from a vehicle parked in the 300 block of Oswego Street on April 3. Police suspect entry was made to the vehicle by smashing a window.

DeAndre R. Harris, 20, 428 Indianwood Blvd., Park Forest, was arrested on April 4 and charged with obstructing identification, driving with a suspended driver’s license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and expired registration when an officer parked at the intersection of Illinois and Springfield Street’s observed that the vehicle Harris was driving had an expired registration sticker on it, according to police. According to police, Harris allegedly provided a false name. According to police, he stated, “I’m going to be honest with you officer,” and allegedly told the officer that he gave the wrong name because he knew that his driver’s license was suspended. There were two other subjects in the vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle, the officer observed a United States passport and checks with different names. The occupants could not provide an answer as to whom the checks and passport belonged. The officer also discovered a large red blanket on the rear driver’s side floor and observed several jewelry boxes, a laptop, cellular phones, and loose jewelry. The officer also located two flat-screen televisions and an Xbox game console in the trunk of the vehicle. The vehicle and all items in it were seized pending further investigation. Police went to the house address on the checks, a Matteson, Illinois, address. The victim from the Matteson address responded to the Park Forest Police Department and identified all of the property recovered from the vehicle as having been removed from her residence. Harris and the other two men, Chanel Sherman, 22, 1411 Center Ave., Chicago Heights, and Michael D. Smith, 22, 1502 Shields Ave., Chicago Heights, were arrested. Smith was turned over to the Matteson Police Department without charges from Park Forest. Police discovered that Sherman had an Ohio driver’s license and Social Security card in his shoe. Neither the driver’s license nor the Social Security card had Sherman’s name on them, according to police. After identifying Sherman, police discovered that he was wanted in connection with an investigation in Park Forest. According to police, Sherman was to be turned over to the Matteson Police Department once the investigation in Park Forest was completed. The vehicle was seized under local ordinance, according to police.

Adrian Lobue, 42, 411 Suwanee St., Park Forest, was arrested on April 4 and charged with battery when police were dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department to investigate a report of battery.

Tierra N. Kirk, 25, 358 Niagara St., Park Forest, was arrested on April 4 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Niagara Street in reference to a 911 hang-up call.

A resident told police that she received an email from her financial institution advising her of a credit alert showing recent activity on her credit. She was informed that credit cards for two stores had been opened using her Social Security number, her maiden name, and a previous address. Both accounts showed zero balance and did not appear to be used. The report also showed that someone attempted to open an Amazon.com and a JCPenney account but were denied. The resident was provided with identity theft information.
