TRiO Talent Search Program Grant Renewed at Prairie State College


CHICAGO HEIGHTS–(ENEWSPF)–August 9, 2016.  The U.S. Department of Education recently renewed Prairie State College’s (PSC) TRiO Educational Talent Search Grant. The new award is for $1.2 million over a five-year period.

The goal of the TRiO Talent Search program is to identify and help individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds earn their high school diploma and enroll in and complete their postsecondary education. It is designed to motivate and support students in grades 6 through 12 who have the potential to succeed in higher education. Services include academic advising, ACT test preparation, connection to high quality tutoring, study skills workshops, college information and assistance, financial aid information and assistance and career advising.

PSC’s TRiO Talent Search program services are free to qualified students who attend Washington Junior High School, Cottage Grove Middle School, Bloom High School, Rickover Junior High School and Bloom Trail High School.
