Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from Park Forest police blotter reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. It is the policy of eNews Park Forest to not remove items in the public record from publication. A woman was asleep in her residence at approximately 9 PM on November 16 in the first block of Hemlock Street when she heard two loud “boom” noises outside the residence. Her daughter, on the main level of the residence, heard the same loud noises apparently colliding with the entry door. Upon observing the door, the woman discovered the entry door to have damage to the outside and a crack in the frame. Police observed the door to have a large semicircular dent just below the knob. A muddy shoeprint, was also observed near the bottom right portion of the door. Police collected evidence and are investigating.
Malcolm X. Ellis, 23, 23 East Rocket Circle. Park Forest, was arrested on November 18 and issued a local ordinance citation charging possession of drug paraphernalia when an officer patrolling at the intersection of Sauk Trail and Lakewood Boulevard observed a vehicle driving with its high intensity headlights on, according to police. Ellis was issued a warning regarding the high beams, according to police.
Marco A. Saldana, 29, 2110 W. 51st St., Chicago, was arrested on November 18 and charged with driving while license was suspended, operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone-not hands-free, and issued a municipal citation charging possession of drug paraphernalia. Saldana was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon and possession of red/blue police lights. An officer patrolling in the area of Sauk Trail and Oakwood Street pulled alongside a vehicle and noticed the illuminated screen of a cell phone in the hands of the driver, according to police. Inside the vehicle, police recovered a multicolored glass pipe from the front seat cup holder, an LED red/blue police flashing lights unit equipped with mounting suction cups from underneath the driver’s seat, and a 21-inch black expandable baton from the center console of the vehicle.
An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on November 19, where a resident told the officer that he was contacted by a subject who claimed to be with Cash Advance America. The subject asked the resident if he was looking for a loan. The resident said he needed a loan in the amount of $1000. The subject told the resident that the minimum loan amount was $3000. The resident agreed on a monthly payment of $150 to repay the loan. The subject then told the resident to buy gift cards or iTunes gift cards and callback with the card information. The subject requested the resident’s information and the resident provided his bank account information, Social Security number, and other personal identifying information. The subject then deposited $500 into the resident’s checking account. The resident advised police that before the money was deposited he had a balance of approximately $150 in the account. Afterwards, he went to a store where he purchased $300 worth of iTunes gift cards. He then called the subject back and provided the subject with all of the information on the cards so that the subject could activate them. After this occurred, approximately $3000 was deposited by the subject into the residence account. The subject then wanted the resident to take out a certain amount of the money and send it back. However, when he tried to withdraw the money, he learned that the account had been frozen. The money that had been deposited into the account was fraudulent, according to police.
Wayne D. Caluya, 19, 17 Oak Ln., Park Forest, was arrested on November 19 and processed on a warrant out of Will County when police responded to the first block of Oak Lane to investigate a report of suspicious vehicles.
The above was edited on 11/28/2016 at 8:14 p.m. to reflect Mr. Caluya’s correct age. There was a discrepancy regarding his age in the police report. In an email from police subsequent to reading the reports and before we first published, we were told he was 39. The arresting officer called tonight to clarify that he was 19 at the time of his arrest. We regret the error.
Denzel J. Bond, 23, 22112 E. Churchill Dr., Richton Park, was arrested on November 20 and issued traffic citations charging defective windshield, no valid registration, and no insurance when an officer traveling eastbound on Lakewood Boulevard at Westwood Drive observed a vehicle with a damaged windshield traveling westbound on Lakewood Boulevard. Passengers in the vehicle, Centelle M. Hudson, 24, 187 224th St., Sauk Village, and Donte L. Horton, 19, 22219 Belmont Rd., Richton Park, were also arrested and issued municipal citations charging possession of cannabis. Bond’s vehicle was seized and towed per local ordinance, according to police.
A vehicle parked in the 200 block of Hickory Street was damaged with a baseball bat on November 21. Police observed both taillights completely shattered, the passenger side mirror shattered, and the driver’s side view mirror completely dislodged off the base, and a dent on the driver’s side door. According to police, the incident was random and police have suspect information.
A resident told police on November 22 that she tried to open a Comcast account and was told that she was not approved because there were two other accounts opened in her name. Police investigated this as identity theft/fraud.
Kaylon A. Jones, 18, 125 Wilson St., Park Forest, was arrested on November 22 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the intersection of Indianwood Boulevard and Marquette Street to investigate a report of a suspicious subject.
