Pro-Cannabis Group Plans to Hand Out 4,200 Marijuana Joints in D.C. on Inauguration Day

D.C. may have a very distinct odor wafting through the air on Inauguration Day

The D.C. Cannabis Coalition has high plans for Inauguration Day:

You might catch a strong smell of marijuana on Inauguration Day. That’s because there will be thousands of joints handed out—for free—by the DC Cannabis Coalition.

It all starts at 8:00 a.m. January 20th on the west side of Dupont Circle. Then, marchers will walk to the National Mall where the real protest will begin

They intend to pass out 4,200 joints to marchers and the best part? It is all legal in Washington, D.C., as long as they hand them out for free:

“The main message is it’s time to legalize cannabis at the federal level,” said Adam Eidinger, the founder of DCMJ, a group of D.C. residents who introduced and helped get initiative 71 passed in the District. Initiative 71 made it legal to possess two ounces or less or marijuana, to grow it, and to give it away, but it is not legal to sell it.

While it’s legal for them to hand out the joints, it is still illegal for them to be smoked in public. Nevertheless, they plan to light them in unison:

The group says they plan to light the marijuana joints four minutes and 20 seconds into President Donald Trump’s speech.

The D.C. Cannabis Coalition supports the full legalization of cannabis in all 50 States and in Washington, D.C.

“We legalized cannabis in Washington, DC and we are not going to let anyone take that away from us!” the group said on its website. “This is an outreach opportunity to show President Trump’s supporters we are the marijuana majority! Join us for smokin’ fun time!”
