Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: Theft, battery, fraud are among those investigated or charged in this week’s police reports. We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

A purse and a laptop were stolen from a vehicle May 6 in the 300 block of Tamarack Street, police said. According to a report, the victim said the burglary happened sometime after 8:30 p.m. on May 5.
Police report that a home in the 300 block of Merrimac Street sustained damage to a door in an apparent burglary attempt on or before May 5, police said. According to a report, the victim noticed the damage to one of the home’s doors but nothing appeared to be missing.
Police report that a Park Forest resident recently discovered that she was in collections for a Comcast bill. However, the address listed on the Comcast account was in Chicago. Police instructed the victim to file a police report for identity theft and file a fraud affidavit with Comcast, police said.
Police report that during a traffic enforcement detail, a check of a vehicle’s license plate revealed that it was stolen. When police attempted to pull the vehicle over, the vehicle fled. Police followed as the driver drove down Osage Street and hit speeds over 70 m.p.h. After the car ran through a stop sign, police terminated the chase for safety’s sake. The vehicle, a 2008 Cadillac CTS, was last seen driving north on Blackhawk, police said.
Tyevon Cannon-Scarelli, 18, 614 Andover St., Chicago Heights, was charged with battery following an incident May 11 at Rich East High School, police said. According to a witness, the suspect was told not to leave the lunchroom but allegedly attempted to leave anyway. When a police liaison officer put a hand up to prevent the suspect from leaving, he allegedly swatted her hand away, according to police. After attempting to stop the suspect a second time, the suspect allegedly swatted the officer’s hand away again, according to police.
Police reported finding a stolen truck May 11 in the 200 block of Main Street. According to a report, the truck was parked and unoccupied. Police later discovered that the truck had been reported stolen out of Chicago in April 2017.
Jose D. Oliver, 26, 9 Apple Lane, Park Forest, was charged with battery following a fight May 12 at a party in the 0-100 block of Apple Lane, police said. According to witnesses, a man at the party encouraged dogs to attack the victims. One victim sustained bite wounds on her arm.
Police reported a residential burglary to a home in the 100 block of Larue Street on or before May 13. According to a report, the home’s owner told police that several walls had been damaged and window screens were missing.
Police report that a SUV had three of its tires slashed May 14 in the 700 block of Lakewood Boulevard. The victim declined to pursue charges, police said.
Four vehicles were broken into the evening of May 13/morning of May 14 in the 100 block of Sycamore Drive, police said. According to a report, thieves gained access to the vehicles by smashing out windows. Checks were stolen from one vehicle and a cell phone was stolen from another. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the other two vehicles, police said.
