Prairie State College Veterans Center Screening ‘Battle Scars’ Movie On October 27

Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting a screening of the movie “Battle Scars,” at 6 p.m., Friday, October 27, in the Barnes & Noble College Auditorium on the college’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights. A panel discussion will follow the screening. The event is open to the public.

The 2015 film depicts the many challenges veterans face upon returning home from battle. After the screening, Dr. Richard Doss, a licensed clinical psychologist with the Chicago Heights Veterans Center, will moderate the panel discussion. Panelists include Lane Carlson, producer of the film; Ignacio Ramos, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in the Vietnam War and a retired readjustment therapist for the Department of Veterans Affairs; Jeffrey Henke, a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in the Vietnam War; Vincent Anyaso, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm and subsequent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, and is now an attorney; Jenifer McCarter, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who served in Afghanistan; and Theresa Gordon-Richmond,  a U.S. Army veteran who served in Operation Desert Storm and in subsequent operations in Iraq & Afghanistan.

“Events like these can make a difference for our veterans and active military service men and women,” said PSC Board Chair Jacqueline Agee.  “The PSC Student Veteran’s Center does a great job providing the support and resources necessary for those facing difficulties after serving our country.”
