November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). This annual event invites people of all ages to take on the challenge of writing a novel during the month of November. On November 1st, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000 word novel by 11:59 PM on November 30th. Begun in 1999, NaNoWriMo inspires its more than 300,000 participants worldwide with progress tracking, pep talks, and a supportive community through its website at https://nanowrimo.org.

This year Crete Public Library is a Come Write In site for NaNoWriMo. Area writers are encouraged to meet up at one of the library’s Write In sessions to write, talk about their writing, share their inspiration or frustrations, and take one step closer to their 50,000 word goal. So far, Crete Public Library has 10 people who have committed to take the challenge. To join in, visit the library or come to one of the three scheduled Write In sessions. Event times are Saturday, November 4 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m; Tuesday, November 7 from 4-6:30 p.m.; and Saturday, November 18 from 12-2 p.m. If you can’t make those times, remember, lots of tables, space, and free WiFi make the library a great place to write anytime it’s open.

The Crete Public Library is located at 1177 Main Street. For more information, please call the Crete Public Library’s Adult Services Department at 708-672-8017 or visit www.cretelibrary.org
