Free Reading of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ on Saturday, December 2

The Drama Group continues to expand its community outreach programs with each production of the current season. The picture below is a result of the generosity of the cast/crew, audiences and active members who were encouraged to bring donations of non-perishables to the Drama Group’s Milord Studio Theatre prior to every performance of ‘Eating Raoul, the Musical’. In addition to the food and non-perishables, an audience member who won the Split-the-Pot raffle, generously donated her share to the Jones Center of Chicago Heights, the agency receiving the donations. Mark Goesel, Program Director at the Jones Center reported that it was all – “just in time for sharing at Thanksgiving.”
In addition to the local food pantry outreach; the Drama Group is offering a free reading of ‘The Vagina Monologues’ this Saturday, December 2 at 7:30pm at the Milord Studio Theatre. 330 West 202nd Street in Chicago Heights, and selling treats and collecting donations to benefit the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, an agency offering services and safety for families and individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse.
These community outreaches follow quickly after The Drama Group hosted a benefit in October, “eNOugh! Art Against Abuse,” which raised over $1,000 for ‘Run Domestic Violence Out of Town,’ which is an umbrella for 10 south suburban agencies also offering services to families and individuals affected by domestic violence and sexual abuse, The event was directed by Kaleigh Michelle Wood who included artists, poets, dancers, musicians and actors, all survivors of abuse.
