Attorney General Lisa Madigan issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration’s immigration policies that separate families at the border and turn away survivors of domestic violence:

“It’s painful to think of anything more barbaric and unforgiving than tearing children away from their parents, especially when they are seeking a better, safer life in our country. Turning away survivors of domestic violence is no less merciless. The federal administration’s complete disdain for women and children betrays American values.”
