CHICAGO –(ENEWSPF)—July 7, 2017. Indivisible Chicago applauds the important bipartisan effort in Springfield to give Illinois a budget for the first time in over two years despite the work by Governor Rauner to prevent it from passing. This budget helps ensure that the most vulnerable citizens of our great state will be able to access services that they need, that our wonderful educational institutions are protected, and that we can get back to business throughout Illinois. We hope this marks a new spirit of cooperation in Springfield to oppose the worst instincts in our country at this moment that puts those at the most risk in further peril, and that we can count on our neighbors, be they Republicans, Democrats, or Independents, to do the right thing for every citizen every day. While President Trump and Governor Rauner may not have compassion or empathy, today Illinois has stood up and said that this state does. Thank you to every lawmaker that helped make this possible.
