1950s Museum shows November Nostalgia

The 1950s Park Forest House Museum at 141 Forest, at the corner of Forest and Fir, now has Thanksgiving Gurley candles on display for the month of November.  Large and small Pilgrims, an Indian and several turkey candles wait to greet visitors.  The dining room table holds a cornucopia or horn of plenty, often seen as a centerpiece during November.  The museum is definitely scheduled to be open November 15 and November 22 from 1-3 p.m.  It will be open on November 29, if we are able to schedule a docent or guide for that day.  If you will have family in town over Thanksgiving weekend, email the society at [email protected] to check on a November 29 opening.  The museum asks a donation of $5 for adults; children 12 and under are free with a paying adult.

Volunteers are getting ready to decorate the museum for a 1950s Christmas in December.

The museum is operated by the Park Forest Historical Society in an original rental townhome, decorated as it might have been from 1948-1953.  Step back into the 1950s with us!
