Aromatherapy Blending Drifting to the Park Forest Library: Events This Week

Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Aromatherapy Blending is coming to the Park Forest Public Library. That class starts February 13, and you might want to register now. There are currently only eight spots available. Brittany Coleman at the Library says, “All guests will make their own 1/3oz essential oil roller bottle to take home for free! Presented by Brittany Hogan, a Certified Advanced Aromatherapy Blending expert.”

There are, of course, a number of events on the docket this week at the Library. All event titles below are links that will take you to the PFPL’s page for more information.

These events are above and beyond the usual services the library provides. There are technology services, including access to public computers, printing, free Wi-Fi, and more; studying and meeting rooms available; free home delivery services to residents of Park Forest and Olympia Fields; various book drop locations at the library, Park Forest Village Hall, and the Olympia Fields Post Office; and more.

History Lecture Series: Emancipation to Inauguration

“Going to Chicago” were the words said, sung, and shouted by African-Americans during the Great Migration, forever changing the city and the nation. But Chicago’s Black experience predates that by nearly a century and a half and continues to this day. From Jean Baptiste Point DuSable to Ida B. Wells to Barack Obama and beyond, this experience is rich, deep, and profound.

The Great Courses: Great Music of the 20th Century

Taking a chronological approach, the course explores the fascinating gamut of 20th-century musical “isms,” from impressionism and fauvism to serialism, stochasticism, ultraserialism, neo-classicism, neo-tonalism, and minimalism, as well as the inclusivity and synthesis within concert music that embraced Western historical styles, folk and popular music, jazz, rock, Asian, Latin American, and other influences in the service of heightened expression. Through the panoramic view of the course, you’ll discover the genius of composers such as Webern, Antheil, Stockhausen, Bernstein, Takamitsu, and many others.
