Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Police are investigating an incident last Friday on where at least a dozen shots were fired at a group of men walking near a residence on Juniper St. When it was over, both the alleged offenders and victims fled the scene, and windows of a residence were riddled with shots from what police believe to be a BB gun.
On Friday, November 2, officers were dispatched to 280 Juniper St. to investigate a call of shots fired. According to the report, a witness was on her front porch smoking a cigarette, when she observed a red colored vehicle driving west on Juniper. At the same time she observed three or four male subjects in dark colored clothing walking in the common court area between the 250-270 buildings of Juniper west toward the street. The vehicle on Juniper hit its brakes; two male black subjects quickly exited the vehicle and began firing shots toward the group of subjects in the common area.
The group of subjects in the common area quickly dispersed, running east toward Forest Blvd. The witness related hearing one of the subjects that fled from the scene yelling, "I’m f—ing hit!”
The offenders then entered the suspect vehicle and it was last observed going west on Juniper, where the witness lost sight of the vehicle.
The vehicle was described as a red or maroon older model Oldsmobile four-door with the last three numbers of the license plate 795. Area hospitals were notified of the incident. Both St. James Hospitals related that no victim had come in with reported injuries.
Officers searched the area and found that windows of a residence in the 200 block of Juniper had been shot 12 times at the first floor level and twice at the upstairs level. Upon close examination, it appeared that the damage was caused by a BB gun, as a good portion of the damaged windows had very small holes, there was no evidence of a firearm (shell casings), and the damage impact on the windows did not penetrate the plastic blinds directly behind them.
Police have suspect descriptions, and continued to investigate.
