Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Park Forest Commission on Human Relations has planned one of the most exciting, creative, and informative Black History Month events in the Chicago area celebrating Black Filmmakers. The Month’s activities will consist of “Fridays in February” Black Film Series at Eagle Movie Theater.

On February 16, Chicago’s own Felicia Middlebrooks, of WBBM Newsradio 780, will present and discuss her first documentary film: Somebody’s Child, the Redemption of Rwanda. The Commission is working with Clear Channel Radio stations V-103 and Inspiration 1390 promotional teams to reach at least 200,000 listeners and e-mail subscribers. It is anticipated this series will attract over 1,500 visitors throughout the month of February.

The film series begins this Friday, February 1, with the 7:00 p.m. showing of Down in the Delta. The movie tells the story of a city girl who gets shipped off to stay with her family in the Mississippi Delta by her mother in order to convalesce from her drug addiction. While there, she works alongside her grandfather at the family restaurant and learns about the trials and adventures of previous generations of her family dating back to their time in slavery before the Civil War. The movie is a touching family drama and the directorial debut of poet Maya Angelou.

The cost for admission is $2. For more information contact Crescent Muhammad at 283-5621.
