PSC Offers Late Start Courses in February

If the thought of starting college courses in January seems impossible because of changing life situations, family obligations, or a hectic work schedule, consider enrolling in Prairie State College’s (PSC) Late Start courses. PSC’s Late Start courses begin in February and provide a chance for students to start college after the semester has begun.

The college offers more than 30 Late Start courses, which begin the week of February 16. Courses run for 12 weeks instead of the usual 16 weeks. To compensate for their abbreviated schedule, Late Start courses meet longer during the week and cover the same amount of material as their 16-week counterparts. The courses also have the same amount of credits and satisfy the requirements for students working toward a degree or certificate.

Late Start course offerings include biology, communication, computers, English, game design, graphic design, humanities, math, music, photography, sociology, and Spanish.

Registration for spring Late Start courses is underway and will continue until courses begin or reach capacity. Course schedules are available on campus, at public libraries, and online at prairiestate.edu. Late Start courses are designated by the section code “LS” in the course schedule.

For more information about programs or course offerings, call PSC’s Counseling and Academic Advising Center at (708) 709-3506.
