Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Children flocked to Algonquin Park last Wednesday as the Eastside Sports Club held its annual softball game.  The Eastside Cubs and White Sox faced each other in the afternoon heat, weathering a brief downpour that stopped play for about half-an-hour.  The two teams battled to a 12-12 tie.

Members of the Park Forest Police and Fire Departments were on hand to volunteer, serve as umpires and cooks.  They were assisted by Snappy, Trix, Smiley and Betti the clowns who entertained the children.

The Eastside Sports Club, part of the Park Forest Police Athletic and Activities Center program [P.A.A.C.], is a drop-in center available for Park Forest youth ages 5 – 17. The program is supervised by Park Forest police officers and adult staff. The activities include various sports and the concepts of sportsmanship with an emphasis on team play.

Activities include basketball, softball, football, volleyball, and track as well as other team sports. The program is held at Eastgate Park, which is located adjacent to Algonquin School, June 23 – July 30, Monday – Thursday from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m.

There is no fee for this program.
