eNews Park Forest Accepted For Membership by the Online News Association

online-news-associationPark Forest, IL – (ENEWSPF) – The editor and publisher of eNews Park Forest is proud to announce that this online publication has been accepted for membership by the Online News Association, a prestigious association for online journalists.  A brief survey of the membership shows journalists from CNN, Radio Free Europe, The Associated Press, United Press International, Bloomberg News, MSNBC.com, Reuters, USA Today, the Columbus Dispatch, and the New York Times, to name a few.

What does this mean in the short-term?  eNews Park Forest is official, credentialed.  We are ready to begin reporting from the Police Blotter, and much more.  We're ready to begin informing the public of everything the public has a right to know.  Thank you to all who have been reading up to this point.

Here is a bit about the ONA from their website:

The ONA mission

The Online News Association is an association composed largely of professional online journalists. The Association has more than 800 professional members, that is, members whose principal livelihood involves gathering or producing news for digital presentation. The membership includes news writers, producers, designers, editors, photographers and others who produce news for the Internet or other digital delivery systems, as well as academic members and others interested in the development of online journalism. ONA also, in partnership with USC Annenberg School for Communication, administers the prestigious Online Journalism Awards.

It may seem out of step to lead off with a commentary piece, but membership in the ONA means a lot to this publication.  After further consultation with our colleagues at Business Wire, the publisher decided to make application last week to the ONA.  And we were honored to have been accepted.  All of us at eNews Park Forest look forward to this partnership with ONA as we move forward bringing quality news to the people of Park Forest.  Tell your friends and neighbors.  We're moving forward.
