Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A fender-bender on an early Park Forest September morn left one resident facing an aggravated felony DUI charge and more.
Police were dispatched to the intersection of Sauk Trail and Central Park on September 27, shortly after 1:30 a.m. On arrival, Officer Shulman observed two vehicles in the Citgo Gas Station parking lot on the corner of Sauk Trail and Central Park. Schuman observed two female subjects standing outside of the vehicles.
According to police, one of the drivers, later identified as Noticia Cooper Hicks, 57, 317 Blackhawk, Park Forest, appeared highly intoxicated. Both drivers were asked for a driver’s license and proof of insurance. The first driver complied. According to police, Hicks was unable to provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance. According to police, Hicks advised Officer Shulman that he would have to place her under arrest because her driver’s license was suspended.
Officer Shulman conducted a LEADS inquiry on Hicks’ driver’s license and learned that her license was suspended. Hicks was then taken into custody.
Hicks voluntarily took a Breathalyzer test at the Park Forest Police Department, according to police. The test revealed that she had a blood alcohol count of 0.172, according to police.
According to police, Hicks had been convicted of driving while her license was suspended on at least two previous occasions. Officer Shulman spoke with Assistant State’s Attorney Nowiski, who approved felony charges of aggravated DUI and aggravated driving while license suspended. Hicks was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, following too closely, driving too fast for conditions, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and an alcohol concentration greater than 0.08.
