Five Men Arrested After Allegedly Shooting Cars with Paintballs and BBs


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Police quickly apprehended five men in the early morning of Sunday, April 26, following reports of subjects shooting paitballs and BBs at automobiles parked on Elm Street.

Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Elm Street at 12:10 a.m. Upon arrival, police discovered eight vehicles that had been struck with paint balls, and two other vehicles that had been damaged with BBs to the point where windows were broken. Twenty-one minutes later, Officer Rimovski located the suspect vehicle traveling southbound on Brookwood Drive in Olympia Fields, and then westbound on Route 30.

Officer Rimovski curbed the vehicle on Route 30 west of Brookwood. There were five men in the vehicle, three 18-years-old and two 19-years-old. According to police, one of them spoke spontaneously and told the officer that there were several BB guns in the vehicle along with a paintball gun. All the subjects were taken into custody and transported to the Park Forest Police Department pending further investigation. The vehicle was towed and, during the inventory search, a paint gun and backpack were recovered from the vehicle. Inside the backpack were two BB guns, two large CO2 tanks, three small CO2 cartridges, one bag of BBs, and two empty paintball canisters, according to police.

At the police station, all subjects allegedly admitted to driving down Elm Street and shooting at cars with the paintball gun and BB guns, according to police.

The five men arrested were Anthony Gutierrez, 18, 194 W. 27th Place, South Chicago Heights; Jonathan Hernandez, 18, 212 W. Lincoln Hwy., Chicago Heights; Miguel A. Vasquez, 19, 554 W. 15th Pl., Chicago Heights; Alan Letesma, 1330 Vincennes Ave., Chicago Heights; and Cruz Gutierrez, 18, 321 W. 16th St., Chicago Heights. All five men were issued municipal tickets charging criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct.
