Fourteen Cars Had Tires Slashed, Juveniles Arrested


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Two juveniles were taken into custody last week after fourteen automobiles had tires slashed. The calls started coming in late Monday night, June 9, and ended when two young boys were taken into custody late the following night.

According to police, Officer Kessler began investigating when he was dispatched June 9 at 11:00 p.m. to a business in the 200 block of Main Street in reference to a report of criminal damage to property. A witness reported seeing a figure near a vehicle which was parked on the street in front of the business. When the witness reached the vehicle, the subject was gone. He heard what sounded like hissing coming from one of the vehicle’s tires, which appeared to have been slashed.

While searching the area, Officer Kessler located six additional vehicles with damaged tires in the parking lot behind Eagle Theatre, 340 Main St., and another vehicle located in the parking lot of Aunt Martha’s Youth Service Center, 400 Forest Blvd.

Police received additional calls the next day, June 10, beginning in 10:54 p.m. Police received reports of tires slashed on vehicles parked in the area of Washington and Watseka. While continuing to check the area for damaged vehicles, Officer Sweitzer saw two juveniles walking through Winnebago Park. Officer Sweitzer stopped the juveniles and spoke with them. When asked if they had any knives in their pockets, one juvenile related he did have a knife, according to police. It was discovered that the second juvenile had a knife as well, according to police.

The two juveniles were arrested on June 10 and charged with criminal damage to property, allegedly admitting to slashing the tires of fourteen automobiles, according to police.
