Hula Hoop Fitness and More This Week at the Park Forest Library


Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Do you remember the Hula Hoop? Do you still have one? Looking to get fit and have fun at the same time? The Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Blvd, will host a class, Hula Hoop Fitness this Saturday, April 6 10:00am.

Wake up and warm up with Hula Hoop fitness. Join instructor Andrea Mattson for this morning class as she shows you how to incorporate the joy of hooping into your everyday life. Leave feeling energized, grounded, and smiling.

This class is free and open to the public. Doors open at 9:45 a.m.

There are more events on the docket this week at the Library for children of all ages, from infant to elder adult. All event titles below are links that will take you to the PFPL’s page for more information.

These events are above and beyond the usual services the library provides. There are technology services, including access to public computers, printing, free Wi-Fi, and more; studying and meeting rooms available; free home delivery services to residents of Park Forest and Olympia Fields; various book drop locations at the library, Park Forest Village Hall, and the Olympia Fields Post Office; and more.

Take Charge of Your Health Diabetes Workshop

Tuesday, April 2, 2019 – 10:30 AM

A six-week interactive workshop designed to help individuals living with pre-diabetes or diabetes learn new skills in self-management so they can continue to thrive as they age! Anyone with pre-diabetes or diabetes can attend. Sessions meet one day a week for 2.5 hours. The 2.5 hour sessions are divided into small activiites and include a 20-minute break.

The Great Courses: Great Music of the 20th Century

Taking a chronological approach, the course explores the fascinating gamut of 20th-century musical “isms,” from impressionism and fauvism to serialism, stochasticism, ultraserialism, neo-classicism, neo-tonalism, and minimalism, as well as the inclusivity and synthesis within concert music that embraced Western historical styles, folk and popular music, jazz, rock, Asian, Latin American, and other influences in the service of heightened expression.
