Peotone, IL—(ENEWSPF)—October 23, 2014. The 2014 Household Hazardous Waste, Motor Oil & Electronics Collection event will take place at Peotone High School, 605 West North Street on Saturday, October 25 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Collection of nearly all types of electronics and household chemicals, hazardous materials and liquids in the parking lots of Peotone High School, just east of Rt. 57, north of Wilmington-Peotone Road.
Electronic Items Accepted include: Televisions, Computers, laptops, tablets, notebooks, monitors, printers, mice, speakers, cameras, video cameras, telephones, microwaves, radios, stereos, etc.
HHW Items Accepted include: Oil based paints/stains, Old/Unwanted medication, Paint thinners, Solvents, Drain cleaners, Cleaning products, Rechargeable batteries, Used Cooking Oil, Mercury & mercury items, Aerosol Paints & Pesticides, Lawn & Garden Chemicals and Fertilizers, Used Oil, Used Oil Filters, Old Gasoline, Antifreeze, Automotive/Boat batteries, Fluorescent Light Bulbs, Compact Fluorescent Bulbs, Pool Chemicals, Driveway Sealer
Anyone pre-purchasing Compost Bins or Rain Barrels through the County website’s partnership with the Conservation Foundation, may pick up their items during the event.
Items NOT Accepted include: Latex based paints, Fireworks/ Explosives, Agricultural wastes, Fire extinguishers (accepted at New Lenox Township and New Lenox Fire Stations), Ammunition (check with your local police department), Radioactive material, Institutional wastes, Controlled substances, Alkaline batteries, Business wastes, Regular garbage, Tires, Smoke/CO detectors, Medical waste/Sharps, Gas cylinders (propane cylinders and tanks accepted at New Lenox Township and New Lenox Fire Stations)
