‘Grand Kankakee Marsh: Everglades of the North’ to be Screened at Local Sierra Club Meeting on September 9

MATTESON—(ENEWSPF)—August 31, 2013. The Sauk-Calumet Group of the Illinois Sierra Club will hold its monthly meeting on Monday, September 9, at 7:15 p.m. at the Frankfort Public Library, 21119 Pfeiffer Rd. (just off Rt. 30).

At this month’s meeting we’ll see the film, “Grand Kankakee Marsh: Everglades of the North.” The Grand Kankakee Marsh once covered an area of 500,000 acres. The film will explain how the 250 mile meandering river which fed into the marsh was channelized into the 90 mile drainage ditch that exists today.

Sierra Club meetings are free and open to the public. People who enjoy outdoor activities, who want to protect the environment, or who wish to preserve the world in which we live, are encouraged to attend. Join us for a fun and enlightening evening!
