League of Women Voters Illinois Senate District #40 Candidate Forum to be Held on October 10

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–October 9, 2012.  The Leagues of Women Voters of the Homewood-Flossmoor and Park Forest Areas and the National Council of Jewish Women – South Cook Section invite the residents of the 40th Illinois Senate District and all residents of the area to attend a candidate forum on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 7:00 p.m. at the Park Forest Library.  The library is located at the intersection of Lakewood and Orchard in Park Forest, and this program is open to the public.

Candidates for the 40th Senate District are Senator Toi Hutchinson of Olympia Fields and Charles E. “Tuck” Marshall of Frankfort.  The Forum provides the public with an opportunity to meet the candidates, submit written questions for the candidates to answer and to hear meaningful discussion of issues facing Illinois citizens and government in a fair, nonpartisan setting.

Because of the new district lines that were created after the 2010 census, most Park Forest residents, as well as many in Will County areas, will be voting in the 40th Senatorial District.  We encourage the public to attend to hear the candidates who will be on the ballot for that office in the November 6 election.  If you are unsure which district you now live in, you can check with your County Clerk’s office to find out.

A candidate forum for the 19th Senate District originally scheduled for October 3, 2012, has been cancelled due to a lack of candidate participation.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization which encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
